The Swim Old Gits, a group of friends from Herne Bay, are gearing up for a challenging 5km swimathon to raise funds for a worthy cause. This group of determined individuals, who call themselves the 'Swim Old Gits', is made up of people with diverse health backgrounds. Among them is Simon Martin, 56, who has been battling heart failure, chronic kidney disease, and angina. Despite their health struggles, they are swimming 200 lengths of the Herons Leisure Centre pool, a distance of 5km, to raise money for charity. The idea for the swimathon came from Tony, who suggested they take on the challenge. At first, they all thought he was crazy, but now they're ready to take on the swimathon and prove that age is just a number.
