This overhaul comes at a critical time, as the U.S. grapples with a national health emergency. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), a staggering 90% of healthcare spending is attributed to treating chronic diseases, many linked to diet and lifestyle. Moreover, over 70% of American adults are overweight or obese, and nearly one-third of adolescents have prediabetes.

Secretary Rollins emphasizes the role of farmers and ranchers in addressing this health crisis, stating, "Farmers and ranchers are at the forefront of the solution." This means bringing more protein, dairy, vegetables, fruits, healthy fats, and whole grains to American dinner tables.
