Lisandro Martínez Defends His Performance Against Scholes' Mockery
Lisandro Martínez, the Manchester United defender, has responded to Paul Scholes' recent criticism, stating that Scholes' mocking comments on a podcast are not personal and that he welcomes direct feedback. The incident occurred after United's 2-0 victory over Manchester City at Old Trafford, where Martínez was scrutinized for his marking of Erling Haaland.
During the Good, the Bad and the Ugly podcast, Scholes and fellow former United player Nicky Butt made derogatory remarks about Martínez's ability to mark Haaland, comparing it to a dad running with a toddler. Martínez, however, remains unfazed by the comments, expressing his focus on his performance and the team's success.
In response to Scholes' comments, Martínez said, 'He can say whatever he wants. If he wants to talk to me, he can come to my house or anywhere. I don't care. I respect former players who want to help the club, but I don't pay attention to their comments. My motivation is my family, and I give everything to this club until my last day.'
Martínez also highlighted the contrast between Michael Carrick, the new interim head coach, and Ruben Amorim, who was recently sacked. He praised Carrick's confidence and energy, stating that he understands the club's significance and wants to help it improve.
Despite the criticism, Martínez remains focused on his performance and the team's success, showing a mature and professional attitude towards his critics.
